Background

Rowhedge Allotment Association

Introduction

In December 2009, a group of a twenty or so people met at The Albion to discuss ways of obtaining allotments for Rowhedge.

Meetings continued regularly and over time we completed many tasks towards our aim.

  • We negotiated with the Parish Council in obtaining land and finalising a lease for that land,
  • We formed the Rowhedge Allotment Association, affiliated with the National Allotment Association.
  • We have submitted grant applications so that the site could be made suitable for allotment gardening.
  • During our first year, the number of people expressing an interest steadily increased.

We are a group of volunteers, work is ongoing and is entirely dependent on the goodwill and talent of all those wonderful people who have donated their time and expertise.

Key documents such as the constitution, and the eligibility policy can be found on the documents page of the site. To contact us, see the contact details under Organisation. To get a flavour of the things we have been talking about, look at the Discussions.

Our Purpose (Mission)

  • To establish the allotments with a recognised governing association for people who live in Rowhedge.
  • To make sure that the allotments keep running smoothly.
  • To enjoy allotment gardening!
